ABOUT US
Why "SixThirty3"?
"...seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness..."
Matthew 6:33
Our name is meant to be a visible reminder to us of the principle found in Matthew 6:33.
At the heart of who we are and what we do is an intentional focus on the primacy of the kingdom of God. We long for every person in our ministry to reflect that focus in their own personal lives and within the life of our ministry.

What is our purpose?
“SixThirty3 Student Ministry exists to connect students and their family to the Messiah, mentors, and the mission for the glory of God.”
It’s more than a catchy motto. In fact, it’s more than a purpose statement. It is the heartbeat behind what we do and how we do it. Every event, every large group or small group teaching, every relationship, every facet of our ministry is designed to accomplish what is found in that statement.
SixThirty3 Student Ministry exists to connect...
Our ministry is not the destination, it is an avenue. Ultimately our responsibility is to serve as an avenue through which people get connected. Who do we desire to connect?

...students and their family...
For far too long student ministries across the country have focused exclusively on students. They have frequently been guilty of adopting a stance of superiority when it comes to relating to parents. However, that is not a biblical model. God gave parents the primary responsibility for the spiritual training of their children and it is the church’s responsibility to come alongside and assist the parents in fulfilling that responsibility. Our ministry strives to equip parents to fulfill that biblical responsibility.
...to the Messiah...
The most important connection our ministry strives to make is the connection between a student or a member of their family and Jesus Christ. Apart from Christ, people are lost and broken and helpless. We desperately want to serve as an instrument in connecting people to the abundant life that is found in Christ alone.

...mentors...
Both parents and students are in need of relationships with others who will strive to help them understand what it means to live in an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord. Our ministry strives to connect both students and parents with others who can help teach and model that for them.
...and the mission...
The mission is simply the Great Commission. We believe it is essential that students and their family know and understand that God expects them to live on mission for Him--in their home, to the ends of the earth, and everywhere in between.

...for the glory of God.
Everything we are and everything we do is to be for the glory of God. Our desire as a ministry is to live in such a way that we make His name famous. We don’t give God glory; He already possesses that in Himself. However, we can reveal God’s glory for others to see. As individuals and as a ministry, that is our heart’s desire.
Our Pastor to Students
Joe Friman
It has been my honor and privilege to serve as the Pastor to Students & Families at First Baptist Church of Homestead since May 2005. I love Jesus, my family, and discipling teenagers! I like coffee, military aviation, and a wide range of musical genres. I am a HUGE University of Alabama fan (ROLL TIDE) and happen to think Nick Saban was one of the greatest college football coaches of all time (I realize that's an unpopular opinion here in South Florida)! I am even more passionate about seeing teenagers begin a relationship with Jesus and grow as His disciples. If you want to hear my story, simply click the "My Testimony" button below.
